DB2 UDB for OS/390 Version 6 Performance Topics, SG24-5351-00
  Abstract
This redbook describes performance enhancements in Version 6 of IBM DATABASE 2 Universal Database Server for OS/390 . The enhancements help improve performance and concurrency of structured query language statements, and extend network computing usability and optimization. The enhancements also include performance and availability delivered through new buffer pool functions, faster recovery, new services of OS/390 Workload Manager, caching options and global buffer pool duplexing for data sharing, and improvements to availability provided by faster, more usable and more parallel utilities.

This book outlines the performance measurements done at the IBM Santa Teresa Laboratory and provides recommendations and conclusions based on the measurements results.

This redbook will help you understand why migrating to Version 6 of DB2 is beneficial for your applications and your DB2 subsystems, prioritize the implementation of the new functions, and evaluate their impact on your DB2 environments.
